dataset
Legacy
As of June 1, 2026, datasets are no longer supported. You can continue to access legacy datasets in the Console or use the Datasets API directly. Use the Data Workbench instead for larger file size support and more extensive editing features.
A dataset is an editable collection of GeoJSON features that you can store in your Mapbox account and access or edit as needed.
You can download a dataset as GeoJSON, or export a dataset to a tileset that can be used in a map style. Any dataset exported to a tileset can be used in a layer in the Mapbox Studio style editor or in the Data visualization component. Any GeoJSON feature or feature collection can be added at runtime as a source.
You can interact with datasets with these tools:
- Use the Mapbox Dataset Editor to create, upload, edit, or download a dataset, or publish a dataset to a tileset.
- Use the Mapbox Datasets API to create or edit a dataset or its features, or access features as GeoJSON.
- Use the Mapbox Uploads API to publish a dataset to a tileset.
