To optimize your tileset costs, refer to our tileset cost management guide.

Understanding your tileset processing line items

First, navigate to your current invoice, which is the first invoice on your invoice page. From there, find the tilesets processing line item you want to better understand. Here is an example of Tilesets Processing 10m line item:

Next, navigate to your tilesets list page in Mapbox Studio. From there, you want to find the 10m tilesets that have the most area, as these will be the tilesets that are contributing the most to your costs. (Learn more about how area is calculated for tileset line items.)

All tilesets created or updated after June 30th 2020 have a color-coded bar that indicates its area. Green indicates the tileset is a 10m tileset, yellow indicates it’s a 1m tileset, orange indicates it’s a 30cm tileset, and red indicates it’s a 1cm tileset.

The highlighted tilesets below have the highest area values among the 10m tilesets. This indicates these are the tilesets that are contributing the most to the tileset processing costs.

Understanding your tileset hosting line items

Generally, the tilesets with the most area will also be the ones that are contributing the most to your tileset hosting costs. This is because pricing for tileset hosting is based on square kilometer days, which are equal to the square kilometers of your tileset multiplied by the number of days that tileset has existed in your account during your billing period.
