# Release notes

What changed in each release of the Mapbox CLI, newest first. The [`CHANGELOG.md`](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md) in the `mapbox/mapbox-cli` repository has the full entry for every change. To update, run the [install script](https://docs.mapbox.com/ja/cli/guides/#install) again, or `brew upgrade mapbox` if you installed with Homebrew.

## 1.1.1

**October 22, 2026**

-   **Update notices now work.** Builds 0.3.0 through 1.1.0 shipped with the update check turned off, so they never said a newer version existed. From 1.1.1, `mapbox` prints a notice on stderr, at most once a day and only at a terminal. `MAPBOX_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1` or `mapbox config set update-check off` turns it off. -   The installer's MCP question now appears at once, instead of after a silent check of 3 to 15 seconds ([#112](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/112)).

-   [`mapbox workflow`](https://docs.mapbox.com/ja/cli/reference/workflow/) (beta): install and run workflows, named multi-step recipes of `mapbox` commands and scripts. `copy-style`, which copies a style between accounts with its fonts and icons, is the first published workflow ([#67](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/67)).

## 1.0.0

**October 22, 2026**

The first stable release. From 1.0.0, versions follow [semantic versioning](https://docs.mapbox.com/ja/cli/guides/#compatibility).

### Breaking changes

-   Removed `--exclude-fields` from `mapbox search forward` and `mapbox search category`. It had no effect for most accounts ([#79](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/79)).
-   Removed `--eta-type`, `--navigation-profile`, and `--origin` from `mapbox search category`. The endpoint returns no ETA, so they had no effect. `search forward` keeps them ([#80](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/80)).

### History, logs, and telemetry

-   Command history with [`mapbox history`](https://docs.mapbox.com/ja/cli/reference/history/), on by default and stored only on your machine ([#56](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/56), [#57](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/57)).
-   Diagnostic logs, off by default: `mapbox config set log on` ([#58](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/58)).
-   One telemetry event per run, sent in the background. It never touches stdout, the exit code, or how long the command takes ([#46](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/46)). See [Privacy](https://docs.mapbox.com/ja/cli/guides/#privacy) for what it contains.
-   `mapbox config set telemetry off` turns telemetry off in every shell; `MAPBOX_CLI_NO_TELEMETRY=1` still works for one shell ([#47](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/47)).
-   The CLI's own token, which sends telemetry and `report`, now comes from `cli.mapbox.com` instead of from the binary itself, so Mapbox can rotate it without a release ([#99](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/99)).
-   Telemetry goes out with the CLI's own token only, never yours ([#104](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/104)).

### Installation

-   A native build for Windows on Arm ([#37](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/37)).
-   The install script offers to set up the Mapbox skill for your coding agent ([#61](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/61), [#68](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/68)), and to add the Mapbox MCP servers to the coding agents it finds ([#71](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/71)).
-   `install.sh` adds its install directory to your `PATH` with one line in your shell profile (`MAPBOX_NO_MODIFY_PATH=1` opts out). Its output is shorter and ends with what to run next, and each run writes a log to `~/.local/state/mapbox-cli/install.log` ([#71](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/71)).
-   An agent setup prompt at `https://cli.mapbox.com/agent-setup/prompt.md`: give the URL to any coding agent and it installs the CLI, the skills, and the MCP servers ([#72](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/72)).

-   Reworked help: the top-level help groups commands by task, command help is more compact, and it ends with a "Learn more" section and a `--schema` hint for coding agents ([#83](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/83), [#86](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/86), [#91](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/91)).
-   A version banner and color at the terminal ([#66](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/66)).
-   Colors that read well on light and dark themes, a new `--no-color` flag, and `FORCE_COLOR=1` to keep color in a pipe ([#83](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/83)).
-   `mapbox usage` draws a chart ([#83](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/83)).
-   A parameter's help line no longer stops at the first dot inside an ID, a number, or an abbreviation ([#83](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/83)).
-   A command that returns a file, such as `styles download`, `static get-image`, or a tile, confirms it on stderr at a terminal, for example `Wrote application/zip (988165 bytes).` ([#70](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/70)).
-   `mapbox config list` aligns its keys in text output, like other key-value lists ([#66](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/66)).

### Other improvements

-   A `403` error now names the missing scope and how to add it ([#70](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/70)).
-   `MAPBOX_CLI_EXTRA_QUERY` passes API parameters that have no flag ([#34](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/34)).
-   `tilesets query` prints a numbered list under `-o text` again ([#82](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/82)).
-   `generate-skills`, `agent-skills install`, and `agent-skills update` fail with a stable `no_agent_detected` error code when they find no coding agent ([#68](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/68)).
-   Security fixes: `rustls` 0.23.46 for `RUSTSEC-2026-0346` to `0349` ([#97](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/97)), and `rustls-webpki` and `webpki-roots` past `RUSTSEC-2026-0381` and `0382` ([#106](https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-cli/pull/106)).
