# telemetry

**Telemetry** is a process in which automatic sensors create and update maps by gathering de-identified data about where and how people are moving. Telemetry data is used to discover missing roads, determine turn restrictions, build speed profiles, improve [OpenStreetMap](https://docs.mapbox.com/help/ja/glossary/osm/), and more.
